Chatroom Ps and Qs
Start chat:
Click on "Start chat: click here" above. The
programme takes about 30 seconds to start, depending on your
connection. If required, please give your firewall permission
to install an applet so you can log on. Please read the disclaimer.
User instructions:
The chatroom is an online meetingplace, where you can
discuss your illness and share tips with other GBS patients.
Clicking on "Start chat: click here" above causes
the program to start. When appropriate, write your name and
click Log in: when you see the welcome greeting, you
have successfully logged on anre you are now in the "Main
Room".
The green field at the right shows the names of other users
present, if any. If somebody logs on or off, the list reflects
this and everyone present receives a little notification -
likewise, this means everyone knows you're logged on. It is
considered good tone to follow the conversation(s) silently
for a moment instead of enthusiastically barging in and disrupting
discussions that may have been running for hours.
To join the discussion, write your input in the yellow field
and click enter.
Below the green field to the right, you can see if there
are other groups meeting in other rooms. Click on one of these
to visit the room - if you can't get in, there is a private
discussion going on and a password is needed to join.
If you get in one of these rooms, and later want to get back
to the Main Room, click on "Main Chat" in this field.
You cannot participate in two separate discussions at once.
Contact the webmaster
if you have problems.
Chatroom Ps and Qs
- Be courteous.
- Be brief.
- Keep a low profile after logging on - barging in may disrupt
meetings being held, or discussions that have run for hours.
- Be patient - the other participants may be in pain or be
physically challenged.
- Confused by several conversations crisscrossing? Don't get
mad, contact the webmaster
about getting a private room for your chat.
